Feast Day: February 14th
St. Valentine was a Roman priest around the 3rd century. On February 14 around 269 AD, Valentine was executed under Emperor Claudius II. As legend tells it, he defied the emperor’s ban on marriages for young men. He secretly performed Christian weddings. It is also suggested that Valentine helped persecuted Christians and once he even restored sight to a blind girl, who was possibly the jailer’s daughter, who was taking care of St. Valentine before he was executed.
Valentine is the patron of lovers, beekeepers, and those suffering from epilepsy.
