Feast Day: July 4th
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati lived from 1901-1925. He was born in Turin, Italy to a wealthy, Catholic family. He used his wealth and education to help the poor in every way possible. He loved adventures, especially hiking, skiing, and climbing. He would bring his friends with him on these outdoor adventures to help them physically and spiritually.
He contracted polio from the poor that he helped and the Pope John Paul II beatified him in 1990. He called him the “Man of the Eight Beatitudes,” because of the way that he lived his life.
Pier is the patron of young people, students, mountaineers, and those striving for social justice.
